Job summary

Moxon Industries in Moorebank, NSW, is seeking a Production Engineer to support technical planning and preparation of jobs through our workshop. You will verify BOMs, resolve drawing and specification queries, procure materials and subcontracted services, and ensure each job package is complete before it reaches the floor.

This is a technical support role reporting to the Production Manager. You will review estimates against drawings, identify omissions, propose improvements including automation

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering recognised in Australia.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings, tolerancing and GD&T.
• Ability to read welding symbols.
• Experience with ERP or MRP software and strong Excel skills.
• Ability to review BOM against drawings and identify errors.
• Ability to negotiate and purchase materials and services.
• Experience applying Lean, 5S or Theory of Constraints in manufacturing.
• Clear written and verbal communication with internal departments, customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Verify BOM against drawings and specifications for completeness; resolve discrepancies with estimating.
• Ensure drawings, revisions, weld procedures and customer specs are current and issued with the job package.
• Source, negotiate and purchase materials and subcontracted services with supplier Certification.
• Plan and sequence jobs across departments, considering capacity, materials, and delivery dates.
• Confirm job readiness with lead hands; ensure complete package before floor start.
• Track long-lead items and re-plan with Production Manager when delays occur.
• Act as first reference for drawing interpretation and material substitutions; escalate as needed.
• Assist with investigations of non-conformances and root-cause input.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams on progress and changes.
• Propose Lean / automation improvements to planning and procurement processes.
