Job summary

Harry Maxwell is seeking an experienced Operations Coordinator for their Brisbane manufacturing site. You will own the weekly production schedule and BOM data, coordinating with supervisors, and managing internal and third-party finishing processes to keep the plan achievable.

The role involves chairing the onsite safety committee, inventory control, and liaison with the yard and dispatch team, with a broad hands-on scope.

Qualifications

• Experience in operations coordination within a make-to-order manufacturing environment.
• Ownership of a weekly production schedule with sequencing decisions and priority calls.
• Proven experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Confident daily use of a manufacturing ERP or MRP system.
• Inventory control experience including cycle counts and stocktakes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings across office, factory floor and yard.
• Full Australian working rights and ability to commute daily to Brisbane's southern suburbs.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the weekly production schedule; sequence jobs and liaise with factory supervisors on priorities and overdue work.
• Review and action daily production report; investigate discrepancies.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials across products; update standard costs and assist with cost roll-ups.
• Create and advise on new part codes; maintain part data in the ERP including alternate and local parts.
• Coordinate third-party finishers (galvanising, powder coating, passivating, laser cutting) and manage turnaround and supplier actions.
• Coordinate labour hire aligned with production and distribution demand.
• Manage cycle counts and stocktakes to the monthly plan; investigate variances.
• Raise and manage purchase orders; ensure receipting and reconcile creditor invoices.
• Coordinate interstate sales orders, requisitions and project supply; report missed deliveries.

Harry Maxwell are recruiting for an experienced Operations Coordinator on behalf of an established Australian manufacturer of steel fabrication and cable support products, based in Brisbane’s southern industrial belt. Part of a larger national group, manufacturing in house and distributing nationally from their own warehouse, this is a great opportunity to join a stable, long-standing business with a reputation for quality and reliability.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Operations Coordinator to take ownership of production planning and Bills of Materials across their manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will build and maintain the weekly production schedule, own the BOM and part data that sits behind it, and coordinate the outside processing and labour hire that keeps the plan achievable, working closely with factory supervisors, the production planner, and the yard and dispatch team.

This is a genuinely broad, hands-on role at the centre of a forty to fifty person site. Production planning is the heart of it and Bills of Materials come next, with inventory, purchasing and interstate distribution sitting around those. Quality and safety responsibilities, including chairing the onsite safety committee, are yours to grow into with training and support rather than yours on day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the weekly production schedule, prepare and sequence job cards, and liaise daily with factory supervisors on workflow, priorities and overdue jobs
• Review and action the daily production report, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials across the product range, update standard costs for price changes, and assist with standard cost roll-ups
• Create and advise on new part codes, and maintain part data in the ERP including alternate and locally manufactured parts
• Coordinate third-party finishers including galvanising, powder coating, passivating and laser cutting, managing turnaround, rework, credits and supplier corrective action
• Coordinate labour hire in line with production and distribution demand
• Manage cycle counts and stocktakes to the monthly plan, and investigate stock variances and discrepancies across manufacturing and the yard
• Raise and manage purchase orders, confirm correct receipting, and process and reconcile creditor invoices
• Coordinate interstate sales orders, requisitions and project supply, and investigate and report on missed deliveries

About You — Essential

• Demonstrated experience in an operations, production or supply chain coordination role within a make-to-order manufacturing environment
• Ownership of a weekly production schedule, including sequencing decisions and priority calls, rather than working to a schedule set elsewhere
• Proven experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials, not solely working to them
• Confident daily use of a manufacturing ERP or MRP system
• Inventory control experience including cycle counts, stocktakes and variance investigation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and confidence working across the office, factory floor and yard
• Full Australian working rights and the ability to commute daily to Brisbane’s southern suburbs

About You — Desirable

• Experience within steel fabrication, sheet metal or metal products manufacturing
• Standard costing experience, including assisting with cost roll-ups
• Experience coordinating third-party finishing processes such as galvanising, powder coating or passivating
• Exposure to ISO 9001 quality systems, non-conformances and corrective actions
• Advanced working knowledge of M1 (Made2Manage) ERP
