Job summary

Department of Transport & Planning Victoria in Melbourne seeks a Rail Network Planner to support short, medium and long-term planning for Victoria’s rail network. The role uses demand modelling to forecast needs and informs government advice and VIDA in shaping future investment.

You will contribute to rail strategies, plans and network artefacts covering rolling stock and service concepts, and prepare briefings for Ministers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or rail operations.
• Understanding of Victoria's freight and passenger rail network.

Responsibilities

• Support short, medium and long-term planning for Victoria's mixed-use rail network using demand modelling and analysis.
• Forecast future needs and identify service, rollingstock and infrastructure requirements.
• Prepare clear advice and briefings for leaders and Ministers, and support integration with VIDA in planning documents.
• Collaborate with transport planners, major projects, Transport Services and VIDA to develop whole-of-network plans.
