Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanised Production team in Rockhampton for a 7-month contract. You will apply your expertise in on-track rail machinery and heavy maintenance equipment to support maintenance, construction and operations across the network.

The role focuses on asset reliability, lifecycle and improvement projects, requiring problem solving, stakeholder engagement and a passion for innovation and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
• Strong engineering judgement with basis in design and safety standards.
• Willingness to travel across Central Queensland Coal Network.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to operational teams.
• Champion safety and asset integrity through engineering controls and risk-based decisions.
• Bridge communication between operations and engineering teams.
• Propose innovative infrastructure solutions for operational and commercial outcomes.
