Job summary

Aurizon in Rockhampton is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer for a 7-month opportunity in the Mechanised Production team. You will apply your expertise in on-track rail machinery and heavy maintenance equipment to provide technical support across maintenance, construction and operations.

You will work on asset reliability, lifecycle and improvement initiatives, using problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports.
• Strong engineering judgement and advisory ability.
• Foundational knowledge of infrastructure operations, design and safety standards.
• Willing to travel across Central Queensland Coal Network.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to maintenance, construction and operations teams.
• Champion engineering safety and asset integrity through controls and safety-in-design principles.
• Bridge communication between operations and engineering teams.
• Contribute to reliability, lifecycle and improvement initiatives.
