Aurizon is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer for a 7-month contract in Rockhampton to support the Mechanised Production team. You will provide technical engineering support on on-track rail machinery and heavy maintenance equipment, aiding maintenance, construction and operations across the network.

The role emphasizes asset reliability, lifecycle improvement, and problem-solving, with opportunities to engage stakeholders and contribute to safety and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing written technical reports.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, design, construction and safety standards related to Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to operational teams.
• Champion engineering safety and asset integrity through engineering controls and risk-based decision-making.
• Bridge the gap between operational and engineering teams and promote innovative infrastructure solutions.
• Travel to various locations across the Central Queensland Coal Network as required.
