Job summary

SETP in Melbourne is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support planning, design review, and construction of electrical infrastructure for large-scale rail projects. This role covers HV/LV power, lighting, and interfaces with signalling, communications, and tunnels.

You will review design docs, liaise with consultants and contractors, conduct inspections, and support risk assessments and safety compliance. A degree in Electrical Engineering and 3–5 years in rail or infrastructure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in large infrastructure or rail projects preferred
• Sound understanding of HV/LV power, earthing, HV cable installation, lighting, and electrical safety
• Familiarity with Australian standards and transport regulations
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on electrical systems across design and construction phases.
• Review electrical design documentation, specifications, and reports for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Liaise with design consultants, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Conduct site inspections and provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Support integration of electrical systems with rail infrastructure, including signalling and communications.
• Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards in all electrical activities.
• Prepare technical documentation including reports, tender specs, and submissions.
• Monitor and report on progress and engineering issues with resolution strategies.
