Job summary

SETP in Melbourne is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support planning, design review, and construction of electrical infrastructure for large-scale rail projects. This role covers HV/LV power, lighting, and interfaces with signalling, communications, and tunnels.

You will review design docs, liaise with consultants and contractors, conduct inspections, and support risk assessments and safety compliance. A degree in Electrical Engineering and 3–5 years in rail or infrastructure is preferred.

This includes high voltage systems, traction power systems, low voltage distribution, lighting, and electrical interfaces with signalling, communications, and tunnel systems.

Key responsibilities

About you

• Sound understanding of HV/LV power systems, earthing systems, HV cable installation, lighting, control systems, and electrical safety.
• Familiarity with applicable Australian standards and transport industry regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in using relevant electrical engineering and design software.
• Registered Professional Engineer (RPEng) or Chartered status (CPEng) is advantageous.
• Exposure to sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.
