Job summary

HEO Robotics seeks an R&D Engineer in Sydney to develop and test algorithms for in-orbit imaging between satellites moving at 7.5km/s, and derive analytics from captured imagery for customers.

You will work with our R&D team to push imaging operations, expand sensor modalities, and build scalable tools that automate planning, analytics and delivery of insights to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechatronics or related), Physics, CS or Math.
• 2+ years of related industry experience or a PhD in a related field.
• Experience in satellite operations, Earth observation, remote sensing, orbital dynamics, machine learning, image processing.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB; cloud-deployed systems experience with AWS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop techniques to continuously plan, monitor and optimise imaging operations and improve image quality and mission success.
• Develop algorithms and tools to extract analytics from imagery and data sources.
• Collaborate with partner satellite operators and internal teams to turn R&D into scalable imaging operations.
• Conduct R&D to evaluate and adapt new sensor modalities and imaging techniques for new orbits.
