Job summary

MBM is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Brisbane team. This role supports the delivery of comprehensive property consultancy services across education, government, commercial, health and infrastructure sectors.

You will contribute to pre‑contract budgeting, tender analysis and cost plans while maintaining high standards of accuracy and stakeholder engagement. Flexible working arrangements and mentorship are offered as part of a values‑driven team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline.
• 2-4 years’ experience, ideally client-side within Australia.
• Strong command of construction methodologies and local procurement practices.
• Advanced proficiency in CostX and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender analysis, budgets and benchmarking.
• Value engineering and cost planning for pre-tender work.
• Progress claim recommendations, cost reports and cash flows for post‑contract work.
• Collaborate with clients and project teams to meet deadlines.

Technical Requirements

Pre-Contract

• Tender analysis
• Initial budgets and benchmarking
• Elemental and trade-based cost plans
• Bills of quantities
• Pre-tender estimates
• Bank reports
• Provide tender methodology advice
• Able to value-add to Client’s brief and/or challenges the client’s view when appropriate
• Value engineering

Post Contract

Skills and Experiences

What You Bring

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience, ideally in a client-side role within Australia.
• Strong command of construction methodologies and local procurement practices.
• Advanced proficiency in CostX and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Organised, professional, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Working towards or holding AIQS or RICS membership is highly regarded.
