Optiver invites motivated penultimate‑year students to join our Quantitative Trading Internship in Sydney for an immersive 8‑week summer program. You’ll tackle advanced quantitative problems, learn trading fundamentals and work under the guidance of our in‑house educators and current traders.

You’ll explore multiple desks, complete lectures, backtest strategies and gain hands‑on data experience with live market data.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year university student.
• Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or able to provide full working rights.
• Lateral thinker with a passion for quantitative problems and working in collaborative environments.
• Strong quantitative and logical reasoning skills.
• Experience with Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing, developing and enhancing trading strategies under guidance from experts.
• Participate in lectures and coursework on trading fundamentals.
• Apply knowledge in simulated trading environments using live market data.
• Analyze historical data to help develop algorithmic trading ideas and backtest performance.
• Learn from a team of educators and traders across various desks to gain market exposure.
