Job summary

Gamuda Australia seeks an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function on Sydney ISD projects. You will implement and govern QMS across site works, ensuring compliance with project Quality Plans, ISO 9001 standards, and Sydney Metro requirements.

You will collaborate with project leadership, design teams, and construction delivery to drive continuous improvement, audits, and NCR resolution while reporting QA metrics to leadership and clients.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Lead on major infrastructure projects.
• In‑depth knowledge of ISO 9001, ITP development, Quality Checklists and hold-point processes.
• Proven track record in internal/external quality audits, risk reviews, and NCR management.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to influence site teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and maintenance of the Quality Management Plan, ITPs, and quality checklists.
• Conduct quality audits on design consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Investigate non-conformances and drive root-cause rectifications.
• Review construction planning with site teams to uphold quality standards.

• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to monitor performance and resolve quality issues.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function on the Sydney based Integrated Station Development (ISD) projects. Working closely with project leadership, engineering design, and site construction delivery teams, you will be responsible for the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems (QMS) across all site works. You will ensure that all construction activities, materials, and documentation comply with project Quality Plans, ISO 9001 standards, and Sydney Metro requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, implementation, and regular updating of the project Quality Management Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Checklists.
• Plan and conduct comprehensive Quality Audits on design consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to verify full compliance with project specifications and quality certifications.
• Track, investigate, and manage non-conformances (NCRs), recommending effective root-cause rectifications and process improvements.
• Partner with site engineering teams and construction supervisors to review construction planning for risk areas, support hold-point releases, and maintain quality standards.
• Consolidate quality data, monitor QA metrics, and compile monthly quality reporting packs for internal leadership and client review.
• Liaise directly with subcontractors and suppliers to monitor performance, manage quality documentation, and resolve quality issues collaboratively.

Your skills and experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Lead on major infrastructure projects. Specific experience in underground stations, rail infrastructure, station box excavation, or tunnelling (Sydney Metro or TfNSW exposure) is highly regarded.
• In-depth knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 framework), ITP development, Quality Checklists, and hold-point inspection processes.
• Proven track record in conducting internal/external quality audits, risk reviews, and managing non-conformance registers.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence site teams, coach personnel, and build strong client relationships.
