Job summary

The SunPork Group's Swickers Kingaroy Bacon Factory is seeking a Quality Assurance Technical Manager to lead QA Coordinators and QA Officers in day-to-day quality system implementation.

You will ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, drive improvements, and foster a strong food safety culture across departments, while aligning with SunPork's values and production standards in Australia.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in Quality Assurance / Food Safety in the food industry.
• Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety controls.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage QA Coordinators and officers.
• Ability to interpret regulatory and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate QA Coordinators and QA Officers to implement quality systems.
• Maintain understanding of regulatory and commercial requirements.
• Build and review process and product monitoring trends.
• Review and maintain elements of the site’s Quality Management Systems.
• Improve work instructions with QA team and Training department.
• Monitor and verify testing and sampling schedules.
• Support QA Coordinators with corrective/preventive actions.
• Promote a strong food safety culture across departments.
• Undertake any training necessary for this role.
• Conduct monitoring and verification activities as required.

Job description

As the Quality Assurance Technical Manager, your role will be to coordinate with your Quality Assurance Coordinators and Quality Assurance officers to ensure they are conducting the day-to-day implementation of quality systems in their areas of responsibility, ensuring regulatory and customer requirements are met and where possible exceeded

Main duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a sound understanding of the site’s regulatory and commercial requirements and assist the QA Manager in managing the implementation of standards changes.
• Build and review process and product monitoring trends, and report to the QA Manager and other departments as required
• As required by the QA Manager, review, verify, amend and maintain elements of the site’s Quality Management Systems.
• In consultation with the QA team and Training department, assist in reviewing and improving the quality team’s work instructions and others as required.
• As required by the QA Manager, monitor and verify the implementation of the site’s testing and sampling schedules.
• Provide assistance and support as required to the site’s QA Coordinators, including but not limited to assisting in the implementation, monitoring and verification of corrective and preventative actions, and assisting in promoting a strong food safety culture within and between departments.
• Undertake any training necessary for this role
• Conduct monitoring and verification activities as required by the QA Manager

What we’re looking for

Swickers has established an efficient, highly skilled yet diversified team. As a key member you will have:

• Prior experience in Quality Assurance / Food Safety in the food industry
• Excellent literacy and computer proficiency
• Analytical and logical abilities in all situations
• Sound understanding of the basics of food microbiology and principles of HACCP
• Understanding of regulatory and commercial requirements in the food industry
• Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to an audience as required
• Strong reporting and time management skills
• Commitment to continuous improvement and support of our food safety culture
• Excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrated coordination and leadership skills

Criteria which will be positively looked upon, but are not critical

• Third party qualifications / experience in food science, food technology
• Previous experience in quality assurance in food manufacturing
• Qualifications in internal auditing, HACCP
