Job summary

Thommo's Hotel Cobden is seeking a Qualified Cook to join our kitchen team in a full-time position based in Cobden, VIC 3266. You will prepare and plate high-quality meals while upholding top food safety and hygiene standards, contributing to the restaurant’s reputation and guest experience.

Responsibilities include cooking to recipes, maintaining a clean kitchen, managing stock, and supporting menu development. In-house accommodation may be provided along with a competitive remuneration package.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cook in a busy hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a kitchen team while taking initiative.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and plate dishes according to recipes and menu specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen adhering to food safety regulations.
• Manage stock, monitor inventory and assist with ordering to minimise waste.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
• Follow standardised cooking techniques to ensure consistent quality and taste.
• Respond to feedback and adjust as required.
• Assist in menu development and suggest new dishes.
• Maintain cooking equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Support training of junior kitchen staff when required.
• In-house accommodation can be provided at the hotel.
