Job summary

Whitton Malt House is a busy regional dining, accommodation and events venue between Leeton and Griffith, NSW. We’re looking for a qualified chef who can confidently hold a section and deliver consistent, high‑quality food across à la carte, weddings and corporate events.

This salaried role offers straight shifts with no split shifts, and a supportive kitchen with on‑the‑job training under an experienced Executive Chef.

Qualifications

• Qualified chef with Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
• Experience from Demi Chef to Sous Chef
• Calm and organised under pressure; able to lead when required
• Clear communicator who works well in a team
• Strong work ethic with punctuality and reliability
• Good availability including weekends

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver quality food across à la carte, functions, and events
• Run a section through prep, service and pack down as part of the team
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
• Rotate and label stock, minimise waste, and keep storage areas organised
• Follow standardised recipes for prep and dish presentation

About the role

Whitton Malt House is a busy regional dining, accommodation and events venue between Leeton and Griffith, running à la carte service alongside functions and events. Set on beautiful grounds, our restaurant showcases local Riverina produce. We're looking for a qualified chef who is passionate about food and can confidently hold a section and deliver consistent, high-quality food.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver quality food across à la carte, functions, and events
• Run a section through prep, service and pack down as part of the team
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
• Rotate and label stock, minimise waste, and keep storage areas organised
• Follow standardised recipes for prep and dish presentation

About you

• Qualified chef (Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) with experience from Demi Chef through to Sous Chef level
• Confident holding a section through busy services and large functions
• Calm and organised under pressure and able to step up and lead when required
• A strong work ethic, with a consistent record of punctuality and reliability
• Clear communicator who works well as part of a team
• Good availability, including weekends
• Current driver's licence (venue is out of town)
