Job summary

Randstad Pty in Adelaide is seeking a highly organised Purchasing Officer to join a fast-paced supply chain team. You will generate, place and expedit e POs through ERP, monitor inventory and push cost-saving initiatives.

This role requires strong negotiation and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with production planners, warehouse and engineering colleagues to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in Purchasing or Procurement within manufacturing/ heavy industry.
• Proficiency using ERP systems for generating POs and inventory tracking.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with suppliers.
• Detail-oriented in resolving invoice discrepancies or quality non-conformances.
• Collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams including warehouse and production.

Responsibilities

The Randstad team are recruiting for a leading company in South Australia. We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join a fast-paced supply chain team.

Key Responsibilities

• Generating, placing, and expediting Purchase Orders (POs) through ERP based on real-time requirements.
• Closely monitoring inventory to prevent shortages and eliminate production downtime.
• Tracking and reporting on supplier metrics.
• Partnering daily with production planners, warehouse, and engineers to ensure seamless operations.
• Taking ownership of damaged parts, managing returns and dispute processes.
• Resolving invoice/receipt discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
• Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Ensuring all suppliers strictly adhere to the sustainability, quality, and corporate compliance standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• Proven experience in Purchasing or Procurement preferably within a manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industry environment.
• Strong proficiency using ERP systems for generating POs and tracking inventory.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to hold suppliers accountable to on time targets.
• A meticulous eye for detail when resolving invoice discrepancies or quality non-conformance's.
• A collaborative mindset, ready to work hands-on with cross-functional warehouse and production teams.
