Job summary

Purchasing Manager (Parental Leave Cover)

MooGoo Skin Care is an Australian-owned, rapidly growing skincare company focused on creating effective products for people with sensitive skin.

With products sold through more than 5,000 pharmacies and health food stores across Australia, as well as a growing international and direct-to-consumer business, we are entering an exciting phase of growth.

Our Burleigh Heads operations are expanding, including increased in-house manufacturing capability, and we are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement function through this next stage.

About the Role

This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for leading MooGoo's purchasing function and team across raw materials, packaging and third‑party finished goods.

You will play a critical role in ensuring we have the right products and materials, at the right cost and at the right time, while managing supplier relationships, procurement risk and inventory requirements.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Product Development, Finance and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Develop the Purchasing Team

Lead, coach and develop the purchasing team, setting clear expectations and performance objectives.

Build a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.

Manage workloads and priorities to ensure purchasing requirements are met across the business.

Establish consistent purchasing processes, standards and system discipline.

Own the end-to-end procurement of ingredients, raw materials, packaging and third‑party manufactured products.

Develop and maintain strong strategic supplier relationships.

Lead supplier negotiations, pricing reviews, commercial agreements and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Identify, assess and onboard new suppliers in line with MooGoo's quality, regulatory and ethical standards.

Monitor supplier performance and proactively manage risks to continuity of supply.

Planning & Supply

Ensure purchasing activity is aligned with demand forecasts, production plans and inventory targets.

Manage supplier lead times, MOQs, capacity and purchasing requirements.

Identify potential supply constraints early and develop mitigation plans.

Lead the response to supply disruptions and elevate issues where required.

Quality, Compliance & New Product Development

Work closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure purchased materials and products meet required quality and cosmetic safety standards.

Support supplier audits, certificates and documentation requirements.

Partner with Product Development on sourcing ingredients, packaging and finished goods for new product development.

Ensure purchasing is ready to support product launches and production scale‑up.

Own purchasing KPIs, including cost, supplier performance, service levels and supply reliability.

Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, systems, data accuracy and ways of working.

Provide clear reporting and insight to the CEO and broader leadership team.

Drive initiatives that improve purchasing efficiency, reduce costs and minimise supply risk.

About You

We are looking for an experienced purchasing or procurement professional who combines strong commercial judgement with a practical, hands‑on approach.

You will ideally have:

Proven experience managing a purchasing/procurement function, preferably within FMCG, cosmetics, manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical or a similar industry.

Experience leading and developing a purchasing team.

Strong supplier negotiation and commercial management skills.

Experience managing raw materials, packaging and/or finished goods procurement.

Strong understanding of supply planning, lead times, MOQs and inventory management.

Demonstrated ability to identify and manage supply and supplier risk.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of commercial and analytical capability.

Experience working cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Product Development and Finance teams.

A proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, growing business.
