Job summary

Glencore's Clermont Open Cut is seeking a dewatering/pump operator to support day-to-day dewatering operations. You will operate, maintain and monitor pumping equipment, ensuring compliance with SHMS and safety standards.

You will work with mining teams, perform inspections, respond to changing conditions, and participate in pre-starts. This hands-on role offers a 7/7 roster, FIFO options, and competitive remuneration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in large mining operation.
• Strong safety focus and ability to follow site procedures and permit systems.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Pumping system maintenance experience.
• Mine-site dewatering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain dewatering/pumping equipment and infrastructure.
• Monitor water levels, flows, and pump performance; respond to site conditions.
• Conduct routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and minor maintenance.
• Complete pre-starts, hazard identification, and required documentation.
• Work with crews to support safe, continuous operations.
• Install and service poly pipelines and dewatering infrastructure.
• Carry out pump inspections, fault finding, and replacements.
• Dogging, rigging and lifting assistance as needed.
• Operate vehicles and plant associated with dewatering.
• Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Supervisor, the core purpose of this vital role is to assist in the day-to-day requirements of a dewatering/pumping operations for Clermont Open Cut. You will be a key stakeholder in providing guidance, and support to site regarding dewatering/pump operations and compliance to the SHMS.

As a dewatering/pump operator at Clermont Open Cut your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain dewatering / pumping equipment and associated infrastructure
• Monitor water levels, flows, and pump performance; respond to changing site conditions
• Conduct routine inspections, basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance
• Complete pre-starts, hazard identification, and required documentation
• Work collaboratively within crews to support safe, continuous operations (particularly during wet season)
• Install, relocate and remove poly pipelines and dewatering infrastructure
• Install, service and maintain diesel pumping systems and associated equipment
• Carry out pump inspections, fault finding, change-outs and breakdown maintenance
• Poly welding and pipeline repairs
• Inspect and maintain pipelines, valves and associated infrastructure, and complete repairs to minimise operational downtime
• Assist with dogging, rigging and lifting activities where required
• Operate vehicles and plant associated with dewatering activities
• Work closely with the wider dewatering, maintenance and mining teams
• Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards

You will possess the following skillset and attributes:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in large mining operation
• Strong safety focus and ability to follow site procedures and permit systems
• Ability to work in changing weather conditions
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Pump maintenance or mechanical experience
• Strong commitment to site safety
• Previous mine-site dewatering experience (highly regarded)
• HR Driver's Licence (highly regarded)
• Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (desirable)
• Experience with diesel pumping systems (highly regarded)
• Poly welding / butt welding qualifications or experience (desirable)
• Dogging and/or Rigging ticket (desirable)

This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a hands‑on approach.
