Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure NSW – Newcastle West NSW is seeking a Customer & Tenure Operations Officer to support Crown land tenure administration and licensing across NSW. This is an ongoing full-time role based in Newcastle with flexible working options.

You will assess licence and tenure transactions, provide accurate advice, handle enquiries, maintain records, and apply legislation and policy to drive reliable customer outcomes in a busy operational environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume administrative, customer service or operational environments.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and business rules.
• Sound problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with databases, records management systems or complex information systems.
• Proactive and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assess and process Crown land licence and tenure transactions.
• Provide timely, accurate and practical advice on tenure and licensing matters.
• Investigate enquiries and help resolve complex licence and tenure issues.
• Interrogate multiple systems and information sources for accurate customer information.
• Maintain the quality and integrity of land information and tenure records.
• Support day-to-day administrative operations of the team.
• Apply legislation, policy and procedures to make informed decisions and recommendations.
