Job summary

Be at the centre of making significant events happen smoothly across Byron Shire. Byron Shire Council is seeking an Events Facilitation Officer to connect event organisers with Council, guiding them from planning to delivery while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role focuses on coordinating approvals, traffic, waste and public safety, with an Easter 2027 planning emphasis, 12-month term, part-time 21 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Qualifications or experience in event management, project management, arts or related field.
• Strong project coordination across multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Experience with events in public spaces and approvals/compliance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement across teams and community groups.
• Able to translate processes into practical guidance for organisers.
• Proactive issue identification and risk escalation.

Responsibilities

• Guide event organisers through Council processes and responsibilities.
• Coordinate internal Council responses and keep actions on track.
• Facilitate planning meetings with organisers, Council teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinate approvals, land, facilities, traffic, waste, safety, accessibility and environment.
• Monitor deliverables and escalate risks or delays.
• Build productive relationships with event organisers, venues and partners.
• Identify opportunities for place activation and visitor benefits.
• Contribute to post-event reviews and process improvements.
