Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking an Events Facilitation Officer to act as the central link between event organisers and Council. You will help navigate Council requirements from early planning to delivery, coordinating across approvals, traffic, waste, safety and environmental considerations.

Based in Mullumbimby, this 12-month, part-time role focuses on Easter 2027 planning and opportunities for place activation, benefiting the community, businesses and visitors.

Qualifications

• Experience in event management or project coordination.
• Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Understanding of approvals, compliance and risk in public events.

Responsibilities

• Guide event organisers through Council processes and responsibilities.
• Coordinate internal Council responses and ensure timelines stay on track.
• Facilitate planning meetings with stakeholders and organisers.
• Coordinate approvals, land, facilities, traffic, waste, safety and accessibility requirements.
• Monitor deliverables, escalate risks and drive actions.
• Build relationships with organisers, venues and community groups.
• Identify opportunities for place activation and visitor services.
• Contribute to post-event reviews and process improvements.
