Job summary

UTS is seeking a Prospect Strategy & Research Coordinator to transform research, data and insights into actionable prospect intelligence that informs fundraising decisions. About the Role

Behind every major philanthropic gift is a deeper story: a connection to the institution, a passion for a cause, and a desire to create meaningful impact. The Prospect Strategy & Research team plays a key role in uncovering those stories and identifying the people who can help bring them to life.

Working under the guidance of the Lead, Prospect Strategy & Research, you will transform research, data and insights into actionable prospect intelligence that helps fundraisers and senior leaders make informed strategic decisions.

From identifying and qualifying new major gift prospects to developing briefing materials, maintaining portfolios and monitoring engagement opportunities, you will help shape the pipeline of future philanthropic support for UTS.

This is more than a research role. It is an opportunity to partner with fundraisers and stakeholders, and combine your unique skills analytical thinking, curiosity and creativity to uncover opportunities, solve problems and drive fundraising outcomes.

About You

You are a curious, analytical and collaborative professional who enjoys turning information into insight.

You can move comfortably between detailed research and the bigger picture, translating complex information into practical insights that others can use.

You bring a strong service mindset and enjoy understanding what stakeholders need, building trusted relationships and contributing to shared outcomes.

You may already have experience in philanthropy, or you may bring transferable skills from areas such as research, consulting, journalism, customer or professional services, or higher education.

Role Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and conduct research on prospective donors using internal and external information sources to support the growth of the major gift pipeline.
• Develop prospect profiles, briefing materials and due diligence reports that support engagement planning and fundraising activity.
• Maintain and optimise prospect portfolios, helping fundraisers identify opportunities, track progression and manage relationships effectively.
• Use dashboards and reports to provide insights that support fundraising strategy and performance.

Skills, attributes and knowledge

• Strong research, analytical and project coordination skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities with a commitment to quality outcomes .
• Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to understand stakeholder needs, build trust and collaborative relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, plus experience with CRM or relational databases
• Knowledge of prospect research, philanthropy or fundraising principles, frameworks and best practice is advantageous.

Experience

• Experience in research, development, library research, journalism or a related field. A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent education, training and professional experience; exposure to fundraising, alumni relations, higher education or the not-for-profit sector is desirable.

What We Offer

Base Salary Range: $101,262.00 - $109,641.00 (HEW6)plus 17% superannuation (pension)

1. Demonstrated experience conducting research and analysis, synthesising information from multiple sources, and translating complex information into clear, actionable insights or recommendations.
2. Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and communicate insights clearly to a range of stakeholders, including tailoring information for different audiences.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement, and deliver high-quality outcomes with accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement, solve problems, and apply technology, data or new approaches to enhance processes, insights or outcomes.
