Job summary

Hinchinbrook Shire Council is seeking a Projects and Disaster Recovery Officer to provide administrative and technical support for infrastructure projects and DRFA funded works under the Manager Projects and Disaster Recovery.

The purpose of the Projects and Disaster Recovery Officer position is to provide administrative and technical support to ensure the effective delivery of infrastructure projects and disaster recovery works, under the general direction of the Manager Projects and Disaster Recovery.

General Salary Information

This position is classified as Level 4 Y1 under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream A) Certified Agreement.

The salary is $85,954 per annum plus superannuation. $45.5991 per hour.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate has experience assisting civil or disaster recovery projects, can interpret guidelines and technical documents, is highly organised, skilled in Microsoft Office, and communicates clearly while coordinating documentation and stakeholder interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and technical support for the delivery of infrastructure projects and Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) funded works, ensuring documentation and processes are completed in accordance with funding guidelines and Council procedures.
  • Assist the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, budgeting and risk management activities through the preparation and maintenance of project information, records and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date DRFA documentation, cost records, evidence registers and acquittal information to support funding claims, audits and recovery processes.
  • Support the engagement and coordination of contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders by preparing documentation, tracking actions and facilitating communication.
  • Monitor project and DRFA expenditure and assist in the preparation of progress, cost and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funding and governance requirements.

Applicants must be able to follow all WHS and PPE requirements, comply with safety instructions and Council procedures, report incidents or hazards immediately, and always act safely by never operating equipment under the influence and not engaging in any behaviour that risks the safety of themselves or others.
