Job summary

Forbes Shire Council is seeking a Multi Skilled Operator, Events Support to join the Infrastructure and Works Department. The role focuses on coordinating logistics for events conducted by and supported by FSC, including equipment, venues and event spaces, plus providing event labour and on-site support with risk management controls.

You will work independently and as part of a team, liaising with the Community and Tourism team to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality event delivery.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Multi Skilled Operator, Events Support to join the Infrastructure and Works Department of Forbes Shire Council.

Reporting directly to the Supervisor Maintenance and Facilities, the aim of this position is to liaise directly with Council’s Community and Tourism team (C&T) to undertake the logistics for events conducted by and supported by Forbes Shire Council (FSC). This will include but is not limited to equipment, venues and event spaces and the co-ordination and assistance at events themselves, the application of risk management controls and additional event labour.

Working both independently and as part of a hard-working team, you will work to achieve timely and appropriate outcomes on an exciting range of projects.

Essential
  • Demonstrated relevant industry experience;
  • Must be capable of using technology to complete forms, risk assessments, incident reports – mobile phone; tablet and online systems essential;
  • Able to work with minimum supervision using judgement and initiative;
  • Demonstrated ability to organise work with high level time management and organisational skills;
  • Ability to provide high level customer service to the community;
  • Developed high level communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within a diverse range of stakeholders;
  • WHS Construction Induction (White Card);
  • Class C (Standard) Drivers Licence.
Essential Tickets or ability to Obtain
  • MR Licence (HR Licence desirable) Drivers Licence;
  • Chemical certification;
  • Chainsaw Operations certificate;
  • Safe Work Traffic Control Licence:
    • Traffic Controller;
    • Implement Traffic Guidance Schemes;
  • Sharps training;
  • Working Safely near Electrical Apparatus;

  • Elevated Work Platform certification;
  • Hiab certification;
  • Working with children check;

Forbes Shire Council's selection process stages are outlined below:
  1. Shortlisting - The selection panel (usually 3 members) will assess all applications against the selection criteria contained in the position description. The panel will then decide which applicants best meet the criteria and will call for interview.
  2. Interview - You will be given at least 2-days' notice if you are required for an interview. The interview panel will consist of either 3 or 4 members, one of which will be the HR Facilitator, who will work with the panel to recommend the most suitable person for the position.
  3. Reference checks and other checks - Referee checks will be carried out on the recommended applicant/s. Positions that have been identified as child-related, will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check through the Office of Children's Guardian NSW
  4. Pre-employment Functional Assessment - The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment at Council’s expense. This will include a Functional Assessment, urine Drug and Alcohol Testing and a hearing screen
  5. Notification of the result - The successful applicant will be verbally notified as soon as possible after the interview and will receive a written letter of offer via email and in the post. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email once the offer of employment has been accepted and Council has been formally notified of the acceptance.
