Job description

Due to continued growth across our project and contract services portfolio, AWB is seeking an experienced Project Supervisor to join our Adelaide team. This is a hands‑on supervisory role suited to an experienced construction professional who enjoys managing multiple projects, coordinating trades and subcontractors, solving problems and taking ownership of works from initial scope through to successful completion. You won’t be stuck behind a desk. On any given day, you could be attending a site to scope upcoming works, coordinating trades and subcontractors, reviewing project progress, meeting with clients, completing safety inspections or working through the next stage of a project.

The role will report to the Contract Services Manager and will have responsibility for coordinating and supervising internal trades and external subcontractors across multiple trade disciplines. AWB's current Supervisor position includes responsibility for quoting, scheduling, site supervision, safety and compliance, quality, handover and defect management.

About the Role

As a Project Supervisor, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of building, refurbishment and minor works projects throughout metropolitan Adelaide and, from time to time, regional South Australia. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating works, ensuring the right resources are available, managing subcontractors and internal trades, maintaining strong client communication and ensuring every project is delivered safely, professionally, on time, within budget and to AWB's quality standards.

The broader AWB Projects function places a strong emphasis on coordinating internal and external resources and delivering projects within agreed scope, time and budget constraints. This is an opportunity for someone who likes variety and autonomy. You'll be expected to make decisions, identify issues before they become problems and work collaboratively with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and the wider AWB team to keep projects moving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scope works, prepare quotations and assist with project planning and programming.
  • Coordinate and supervise internal trades, subcontractors, suppliers and other project resources.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously across different sites.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure key milestones and client deadlines are achieved.
  • Monitor project costs, labour, materials and subcontractor expenditure to support delivery within approved budgets.
  • Review subcontractor pricing and coordinate procurement with a focus on quality, programme and value for money.
  • Maintain accurate project records and ensure jobs, schedules and project information remain current within AWB's operating systems.
  • Identify additional works and variations and ensure they are documented, priced and approved appropriately.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and provide clear updates regarding programme, progress and any issues affecting delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections, pre-starts, toolbox meetings and safety checks as required.
  • Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with AWB, client and site‑specific WHS requirements.
  • Monitor workmanship and quality throughout construction and coordinate practical completion, handover and defect rectification.
  • Work closely with the Contract Services Manager and wider AWB team to resolve technical, operational and client issues.
What We’re Looking For

We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and commercially aware, with the confidence to take ownership of projects and build strong working relationships with clients and trades.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A trade qualification in carpentry, building or a similar construction discipline, with relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience as a Project Supervisor, Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor, Estimator/Supervisor or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Sound knowledge of building, refurbishment and maintenance processes.
  • The ability to scope works and understand the labour, materials, sequencing and timeframes required to deliver them.
  • Strong understanding of project costs, budgets and commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and time‑management skills.
  • The ability to manage several projects at different stages and locations without losing sight of the details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients.
  • A practical approach to problem‑solving and the ability to make decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to work confidently with project/job management systems (SimPRO, Procore).
  • A strong commitment to WHS, quality and compliance.
  • A genuine can‑do attitude and willingness to take responsibility for getting the job through to completion.
  • Experience working within government, education, health, aged care, commercial facilities or facilities‑maintenance environments would be highly regarded.
