Job summary

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Project Officer – Marine Programs to help deliver conservation initiatives protecting NSW’s marine environments. This role focuses on the Seabirds to Seascapes and priority marine species programs across NSW.

You will coordinate and deliver projects, monitor performance, and support evidence-based decision making while collaborating with government agencies, researchers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in science or a relevant natural resource discipline (or demonstrated equivalent experience).
• Current Australian driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
• Experience delivering projects or programs in marine estate management or biodiversity conservation.
• Strong project management skills and ability to communicate complex information to varied audiences.

• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $119,292 pa to $134,587 pa + super

Our Marine Programs team is seeking to appoint a Project Officer - Marine Programs to help deliver innovative conservation initiatives that protect and enhance NSW’s unique marine environments. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Seabirds to Seascapes program and a range of priority marine species and ecosystem projects that support the long-term health and resilience of our marine estate.

As a Project Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating and delivering projects that make a tangible difference to biodiversity conservation across NSW. Working alongside passionate scientists, project specialists and stakeholders, you will undertake research and analysis, manage project activities, monitor performance, and support evidence-based decision making. You'll collaborate with government agencies, researchers, industry representatives and community partners, building strong relationships that help drive positive environmental outcomes. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, values collaboration and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same.

About You

You are an organised and proactive project professional with experience delivering projects or programs in marine estate management, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management or a related field. You bring strong project management skills, an analytical mindset and the ability to interpret and communicate complex information to a range of audiences. Your experience enables you to balance competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring quality outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.

Equally important is your ability to build positive and productive relationships with diverse stakeholders. You are a confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively, bringing people together to achieve shared goals and conservation outcomes. Adaptable and solutions-focused, you remain resilient in changing environments and is motivated by meaningful work that contributes to the protection of NSW's marine biodiversity. With qualifications in science, environmental management, natural resources or a related discipline, you will be excited by the opportunity to contribute to some of the state's most important marine conservation programs while continuing to grow your professional career.

Essential Requirements
