Job summary

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Program Officer Threatened Flora Regulation to support licensing and regulatory programs that conserve biodiversity across NSW. • Help shape biodiversity regulation in NSW by using data, science and legislation to support threatened flora conservation outcomes.
• Temporary, full-time opportunity (Up to June 2029) 35 hours per week
• Parramatta or office location negotiable across NSW, hybrid working supported
• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $119,292 to $134,587 + super

Our Biodiversity Licensing and Programs team is currently seeking to appoint a Program Officer Threatened Flora Regulation to support the delivery and continuous improvement of biodiversity licensing and regulatory programs that contribute to conservation outcomes across NSW.

As a Program Officer Threatened Flora Regulation, you'll support biodiversity licensing and regulatory programs by analysing information, providing practical advice and identifying opportunities to improve program delivery. Working closely with policy, compliance, science and operational teams, you'll help translate complex environmental and regulatory information into clear reporting, insights and solutions that support effective decision-making and biodiversity conservation outcomes.

About You

You have experience in environmental regulation, biodiversity conservation, licensing programs or a related field, with the ability to interpret legislation, policy and technical information to support practical regulatory outcomes. You are comfortable working with data and can use reporting and analytical tools to identify trends, monitor performance and prepare quality reports, briefs and dashboards.

You are a strong communicator who can work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and translate complex information into clear, actionable advice. Organised and detail-focused, you enjoy problem solving, maintaining data quality and contributing to projects that improve regulatory processes and support positive environmental outcomes.

Key knowledge and experience

• Experience in environmental regulation, biodiversity conservation, threatened flora, native plant licensing or related program delivery.
• Ability to interpret legislation, policy, operational information and technical advice to inform practical regulatory decisions.
• Experience analysing information and preparing clear reports, briefs or dashboards for different audiences.

Essential requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, SQL, GIS or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of NSW biodiversity conservation legislation or related environmental regulatory frameworks.
