Job summary

Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Project Lead Marine Programs to drive the Seabirds to Seascapes initiative in NSW. Hybrid working from the Parramatta office (up to June 2029).

You will lead complex marine conservation projects, coordinate cross-agency teams and manage outcomes, budgets and partnerships to protect biodiversity and threatened species.

• Temporary, full-time opportunity (up to June 2029) 35 hours per week
• Parramatta office location, hybrid working supported
• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $138,454 to $152,686 pa + super

Our Marine Programs team is currently seeking to appoint a Project Lead Marine Programs to lead the delivery of a major marine conservation initiative that aims to protect marine biodiversity and threatened species across NSW. As the Project Lead Marine Programs, you'll lead the Seabirds to Seascapes project, bringing together government, scientific and community partners to deliver conservation outcomes for marine species and habitats across NSW. You'll coordinate project delivery, manage performance and risks, provide expert advice and build the partnerships needed to achieve lasting environmental outcomes. This is an opportunity to contribute to conservation initiatives that make a tangible difference to the state's marine environment.

About You

You bring experience leading complex environmental, marine or biodiversity conservation projects and can successfully coordinate programs involving multiple stakeholders, priorities and funding requirements. You have strong project management skills, sound environmental knowledge and a proven ability to deliver outcomes in collaborative settings.

You build trusted relationships, communicate clearly with a range of audiences and work effectively across organisations to achieve shared goals. You are organised, solutions-focused and comfortable navigating competing priorities while maintaining momentum and delivering quality outcomes.

Key knowledge and experience

• Experience in developing and leading projects or programs in marine estate management or biodiversity conservation.
• Extensive experience in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for the delivery of large complex projects, with a demonstrated track record of providing direction and achieving results through multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams from a variety of organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and foster relationships with peers including in government agencies and external clients and collaborators to deliver conservation programs.
• Experience in managing external stakeholders to meet project (including budget) reporting requirements.

Essential requirements

• A tertiary qualification in Science, a relevant natural resource discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Current Australian driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel throughout the state when required.
