The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing building, construction, infrastructure or facilities projects in a complex operational environment. They will possess strong project management skills, including procurement and contract management experience, budget oversight, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
You will be a proactive and adaptable professional who exercises initiative, applies sound judgement and delivers high-quality outcomes under limited direction. Experience working with construction contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams, together with an understanding of asset management, facilities operations or capital works delivery, will be highly regarded.

As the Project Manager, you will:
Supervise the Building Projects team: With support from senior staff, oversee delivery of related projects and activities for the team, set priorities for the work area, maintain team cohesion, and ensure quality of outputs for the work area.
Deliver complex projects and programs: working with independence, under limited direction, develop and manage project plans, oversee implementation, manage and monitor budgets, coordinate risk assessment and management, and ensure delivery of high-quality outputs.
Manage contracts and compliance: administer contract and service agreements, lead tender and selection processes, ensure adherence to legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, and address contractor performance.
Exercise sound judgement and analysis: make decisions, with direction from senior staff, on tasks and assignments with considerable complexity and sensitivity. Exercise good judgement, expertise and knowledge, and ensure decisions are governed by the application of regulations, best practice principles or the agency’s operating instructions and procedures.
Drive team performance and capability development: implement work plans, monitor performance and quality assurance processes, manage risk, and build team capability through coaching, feedback, training and professional development. Develop, deliver, coordinate, plan and assess training programs.
Deliver expert research, analysis and advice: undertake independent research, draft reports and briefs, and provide specialised technical advice across project and program activities, anticipating risks and issues and contributing to their management within the area of responsibility.
Lead and manage stakeholder engagement: build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, liaise across agencies where relevant, and facilitate coordinated program delivery to achieve organisational outcomes. Anticipate and address stakeholder expectations and support stakeholders through change. Promote agency interests at community and cross-agency levels.
Support strategic planning and delivery: contribute to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives. Contribute to aligning work area activities with the agency’s broader objectives while maintaining a strong understanding of the agency’s functions. Monitor external factors impacting priorities and outcomes. Propose and facilitate innovation initiatives and contribute to business improvement strategies leading to change in workplace practices.
To be eligible for this role you must be willing and able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance with the Australian Government Vetting Agency, or have an existing or recently inactive clearance of that level.As such, you must be an Australian citizen to obtain that clearance. You also need to obtain or hold a current registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
