Job summary

Wilson Alexander Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Manager to own the end‑to‑end delivery of Design & Construct projects. You will work with a small, agile leadership team that values initiative and direct accountability over hierarchy, delivering projects across retail, health, commercial and residential sectors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering Design & Construct projects in a commercial construction environment.
• Strong leadership to drive projects with autonomous accountability.
• Solid understanding of budgets, procurement, subcontracts and variations.
• Excellent client, consultant and supplier relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end delivery of Design & Construct projects safely, on programme and within budget.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Oversee procurement, subcontractor letting and variations to drive project profitability.
• Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, forecasts and cost control.
• Coordinate design input and consultant documentation through the D&C process.
• Ensure quality, safety and compliance standards across all sites.
• Lead site teams and subcontractors to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Report progress and maintain clear communication with clients and senior leadership.

This is a Design & Construct business with no corporate bureaucracy to work around, the business runs on hands-on management, direct communication and fast decision-making, prioritising people over paperwork and genuine relationships with clients and subcontractors alike.

Operating nationally across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, the business delivers a genuine D&C turnkey experience across retail, industrial, health, commercial, entertainment and residentials, with a portfolio spanning major shopping centre works, hospitality and hotel fit-outs, tertiary education projects and commercial office fit-outs.

The Role

An experienced Project Manager is sought to take ownership of project delivery from award through to completion, working closely with a small, agile leadership team that values initiative and direct accountability over hierarchy. This is a genuine opportunity to have real influence over how projects run, without layers of corporate process getting in the way.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of Design & Construct projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on programme and within budget
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
• Manage procurement, subcontractor letting and variations to drive project profitability
• Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, forecasts and cost control
• Coordinate design input and consultant documentation through the D&C process
• Ensure quality, safety and compliance standards are met across all sites
• Lead site teams and subcontractors to keep projects moving efficiently
• Report progress and maintain clear communication with clients and senior leadership throughout delivery

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering Design & Construct projects in a commercial construction environment
• Experience across retail, commercial, industrial, health, hospitality or fit-out projects highly regarded
• Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, subcontractor letting and variations
• Confident, hands-on communicator comfortable working directly with clients and consultants
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, procurement and programming
• Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Building, Engineering or a related discipline
• A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and genuine ownership of outcomes
