Job summary

Randwick City Council in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs is seeking a Project Manager for a 24-month maximum term full-time role. You will lead the design to construction delivery across civil and capital works, coordinating with consultants, contractors and council staff.

You will manage community consultation, prepare technical reports and tender packages, and ensure compliance with WHS and purchasing policies. This role offers a stable 24-month tenure with a 9-day fortnight and supportive culture.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary professional qualifications, at degree level, in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent
  • Proven project management skills to meet budgets, timeframes and milestones
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously with appropriate resource allocation
  • Well-developed written and oral communication techniques for the public and staff
  • Interpersonal, negotiating, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in delivery of capital projects
  • High level computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office or similar packages

Responsibilities

  • Exercise delegated powers by the Director City Services

Job description

Status: Maximum Term Full-Time (35 hours per week) for 24 months

Salary: From $112,422 per annum + 12% superannuation + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Project Delivery Team is seeking a Project Manager for a 24-month period.

Purpose:

Effectively and efficiently manage the design, planning, approvals, documentation, and construction delivery stages of a range of projects relating to the Civil and Capital Works Programme of Council’s assets in the road reserve, open space, buildings and waste management. Organise the community consultation process that identifies community and stakeholder aspirations and needs for project relating to Council infrastructure.

About the role:

To prepare accurate technical reports/ correspondence and to provide sound technical advice to other Council officers, Councillors and to the general public.

To liaise with consultants and contractors as required, including the preparation of briefs and consultation plans for consultants and to prepare timely and accurate project estimates.

Ensure compliance with legislative, industrial and Council policy requirements and standards in the areas of relevant Work Health and Safety.

To project manage projects through concept, design, documentation, tendering and construction stages for consultants, council officers, and contractors ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.

To prepare specifications, contracts, quotations, tender packages and evaluations in compliance with Council's Purchasing Policy for external works and service agreements to ensure the delivery of a cost competitive service.

To facilitate the relevant community consultation process to identify community and stakeholder aspirations and needs for current and future usage and maintenance in the delivery of the building projects.

To prepare key information to assist the Council's Communications department in the preparation of media releases and written articles for publication in newspapers or presentations or for inclusion in public information displays.

Exercise in a diligent manner those powers delegated to the position by the Director City Services.

The right candidate will have:

Appropriate tertiary professional qualifications, at degree level, in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent relevant industry experience in building, documentation and construction.

Proven project management skills to meet budgets, timeframes, competing project priorities and milestones.

Ability to control several projects simultaneously to ensure resources are managed appropriately.

Well-developed written and oral communication techniques and an ability to deal effectively with other Council personnel and the public.

Effective interpersonal, negotiating, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Experience in delivery of capital projects.

High level computer literacy, particularly Microsoft office or similar packages.
