Job summary

Rosebel Gold Mines seeks an experienced Project Geologist to lead our site-based geological team and oversee exploration activities. The role involves planning, field supervision, data interpretation, and delivering key geological objectives.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering, 8+ years in exploration including 5 years on mesothermal gold deposits, and strong GIS and geoscience software skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of geological exploration experience including 5 years with mesothermal gold deposits and 3 years in corporate mining.
• Strong knowledge of GIS, geoscience disciplines, and geological software.
• Experience drilling, logging, sampling, mapping, and data interpretation with QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design exploration programs, including work proposals, target prioritization, budgeting, and cost-effective execution.
• Lead and supervise drilling, logging, sampling, mapping, and surveying activities while ensuring compliance with procedures and best practices.
• Supervise and mentor field and junior geologists and coordinate exploration activities with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate data collection, QA/QC, database updates, GIS integration, and geological interpretation, including maps and sections.
• Prepare regular and regulatory reports, contribute to NI 43-101 and corporate reporting, and support project generation and exploration opportunities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Geologist to lead our site-based geological team and oversee exploration activities in accordance with industry best practices, safety, and environmental standards. The role will contribute to exploration planning, field supervision, geological data interpretation, and the achievement of key geological objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Plan and design exploration programs, including work proposals, target prioritization, budgeting, and cost-effective execution.
• Lead and supervise drilling, logging, sampling, mapping, and surveying activities while ensuring compliance with procedures and industry best practices.
• Supervise and mentor field and junior geologists and coordinate exploration activities with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate data collection, QA/QC, database updates, GIS integration, and geological interpretation, including maps and sections.
• Prepare regular and regulatory reports, contribute to NI 43-101 and corporate reporting, and support project generation and exploration opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of GIS, geological software, and geoscience disciplines such as geochemistry and geophysics.
• Minimum 8 years of geological exploration experience, including 5 years with mesothermal gold deposits and 3 years in a corporate mining environment.
• Strong expertise in drilling, geological mapping, sampling, logging, regolith exploration, data analysis, and reporting.
• Good knowledge of budgeting and cost management, with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
• Experience working in remote field camps and tropical environments.
• Valid driver’s license and 4x4 driving experience.
• Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break
• Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.
• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
