Job summary

FMS Field Mining Services Group – Mackay QLD is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to lead projects from tender through closeout. You will provide onsite engineering support, assist with cost control, develop schedules, and collaborate with design and field teams to deliver practical solutions for our mining sites.

Strong mechanical engineering background, 2+ years in project engineering, proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Ansys, and solid communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 2 years in project engineering with tender-to-closeout exposure.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and analyses.
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Word and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite project engineering support including cost control and QA management.
• Prepare quotes, tender materials, and build Gantt charts for projects.

About the Role

Working across the engineering & projects team’s an opportunity exists for a dynamic & skilled project engineer to demonstrate their skills and to continue to grow with the Field Mining Services (FMS) Group. Taking ownership of the project, this position will look to follow the project from initial tendering all the way through to project closeout. In between project you will grow your engineering prowess using SolidWorks, AutoCAD & Ansys to develop products & tools to support our site teams.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing onsite Project Engineering support including cost control, Gantt updates, QA management, technical engineering support.
• Providing office based (Mackay) Project Engineering support including quoting, tendering, building Gantt charts, pad layouts, lift planning & technical engineering support.
• Supporting our Engineering team with the design, engineering of new jigs & rolling out new designs/jigs onsite.
• Contribute to winning & successfully executing projects.

About You

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 2 yeas + Project Engineering experience & a desire to build your skills in the project space.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations.
• Be able to demonstrate conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills including the ability to solve complex problems.
• Well-developed computer skills including the use of word processing, MS Project and spreadsheets.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
