Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate project engineering activities for renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects from feasibility and development through construction and commissioning.
• Review and assess project designs, plant layouts, equipment configurations and engineering documentation, and develop technical specifications for plant, equipment and engineering systems.
• Analyse alternative technical solutions and optimise plant configuration, equipment, materials, project resources, CAPEX and OPEX to improve technical performance and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate engineering consultants, grid specialists, equipment suppliers, EPC contractors and other technical service providers.
• Support Australian grid connection activities, including connection strategy, technical assessments and coordination with specialist grid consultants and relevant network stakeholders.
• Support engineering quality, testing, inspection and technical compliance requirements.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
• Prepare and review technical reports, engineering recommendations, project documentation and technical presentations.

KNR Energy Consulting Pty Ltd is an Australian energy consultancy providing engineering, project development, grid connection, technical advisory and project management services across renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects. KNR works across utility-scale solar PV, wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid power plants, data centre development and emerging energy infrastructure solutions, supporting projects from initial feasibility and development through engineering, construction and commissioning.

International exposure

KNR is expanding its Australian project portfolio through existing client engagements and strategic partnerships with international renewable energy developers, including partners based in Spain developing energy infrastructure assets in Australia.

About the role

The Project Engineer will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, assess and optimise technical solutions, review plant and equipment configurations, support grid connection activities and manage technical interfaces with engineering consultants, suppliers, network specialists and project partners.

The role will support projects involving utility-scale solar PV, wind, standalone BESS, hybrid power plants and other energy infrastructure solutions, including data centre development and emerging technologies such as green hydrogen.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the office located at Level 5, 447 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.

About you

Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

At least 3 years of relevant engineering experience in renewable energy, power or energy infrastructure projects.

Project engineering and technical coordination, including coordination of engineering consultants, suppliers and contractors.

Utility-scale renewable energy projects, with demonstrated experience across solar PV, wind and BESS projects.

Hybrid power plants and integration of multiple energy technologies.

Technical feasibility and due diligence.

Australian renewable energy and BESS projects.

Australian grid connection processes.

Data centre development and associated energy infrastructure.

Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Professional working proficiency in Spanish would be highly regarded, given the regular interaction with Spanish speaking international project partners and the potential need to attend meetings, participate in technical discussions and undertake business travel in Spain.
