Job summary

Civil Mining & Construction Pty Ltd in Queensland is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Early Works programme for the Brigalow Peaking Power Project (BPPP). Located in Chinchilla, the hydrogen-ready power station will provide firming capacity for more renewables.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 3+ years on civil infrastructure, with strong HSE experience and a willingness to travel across Queensland or NSW on varied rosters.

Qualifications

  • Civil engineering degree is required.
  • Min 3+ years’ experience on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with self-performing and sub-contract works.
  • Proven track record in HSE compliance and safety.
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel across Queensland or NSW on varying rosters.

Responsibilities

  • Implement innovative, cost-efficient construction methodologies and techniques.
  • Produce construction programs with Supervisors and Superintendents.
  • Monitor program milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Plan resources (plant, labour, subcontractors) to meet the program.
  • Procure materials and subcontractors to achieve programs.
  • Identify variations and prepare variation correspondence.
  • Monitor day costs and adjust when unit costs are excessive.
  • Prepare end-of-month cost reports with the Project Manager.
  • Implement environmental controls where environmental risk is high.

About the role

CMC has unique opportunity for a Project Engineer who will support in the delivery of the Early Works programme for the Brigalow Peaking Power Project (BPPP). Located in Chinchilla, the BPPP is a hydrogen-ready, natural gas power station that will provide firming capacity to support more renewables entering the energy system.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implementing or creating innovative, cost-efficient construction methodologies and techniques.
  • Producing construction programs for the project together with Supervisors and Superintendents.
  • Continuous monitoring of program throughout the life of the project ensuring milestones are completed on time.
  • In conjunction with Superintendents and Supervisors, planning the resources required to achieve the construction program (plant, labour, and subcontractors) and sourcing.
  • Planning and implementing the procurement of materials and subcontractors to achieve construction programs.
  • Working with Supervisors to recognise variations, quantity increases or decreases, and any additional scope of works to produce appropriate variation correspondence.
  • Monitoring day costs for activities and adjusting if unit costs are excessive.
  • The preparation and analysis of the end-of-month project costs report with the Project Manager.
  • Implementing environmental controls where the risk to the environment is serious enough to require monitoring.

About you

  • A Civil Engineering degree
  • Min 3+ years’ experience on civil infrastructure projects
  • Have an understanding and experience of self-performing and sub-contract works
  • A proven track record in HSE compliance and safety
  • Be able to work as part of a team that is driven by success
  • Possess excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Be self-motivated and adaptable with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Willing to travel and work away from home on various projects throughout Queensland or NSW on varying rosters when required.
