Job summary

CEA Technologies in Canberra is seeking an accomplished Senior Engineering professional to drive day‑to‑day delivery of internal and external project engineering activities for defence radar systems.

You will coordinate engineering contract deliverables, interface with systems and design engineers across multi‑domain projects, and provide technical oversight for R&D and bids.

Qualifications

• A tertiary degree in Engineering, preferably Electronics.
• Minimum 10 years professional engineering experience.
• Sound knowledge of Combat Systems, radar surveillance, IFF and missile fire control systems.
• Ability to manage workflow, priorities and deadlines to deliver results.
• Experience with Defence-related projects and bid processes.
• Willingness to undertake further activities as directed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering contract deliverables (CDRL/SDRL) and interface with systems and design engineers across multi-domain systems.
• Plan and track work packages and schedules to meet contracted milestones.
• Prepare and deliver project progress reports to stakeholders.
• Provide technical and engineering support for proposals and bids, and assist with contract management and CCPs.

Our programs include the ANZAC and Hunter Class frigates and air defence applications for Army and Air Force, and Range applications. This has resulted in the creation of a highly modular and scalable product suite, which have become integral to a wide range of critical Defence capabilities.

The Position

Reporting to the Technical Director and Engineering Developments Manager, you will drive day-to-day delivery of internal and external project engineering activities. This includes development and coordination of engineering contract deliverables, interfacing with systems and design Engineers to develop solutions across multi-domain systems, project progress reporting, support for marketing proposals and bid negotiations, and other project related responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the engineering development and coordination of engineering contract deliverables
• Proactively interface with systems and design engineers to develop solutions across multi-domain systems
• Coordinate day-to-day project activities in line with contracted tasking requirements, including timely delivery against project milestones
• Prepare contracted project engineering documentation, including Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL) and Supplier Data Requirements Lists (SDRL)
• Deliver project progress reporting to internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with technical oversight of R&D and risk reduction programs
• Plan and review of work packages and schedules
• Provide technical and engineering support for proposals and bids
• Support contract management, contract negotiation and management of Contract Change Proposals (CCPs).

Our Ideal Candidate

• A tertiary degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, preferably in an Electronics field.
• Minimum 10 years professional engineering experience.
• Sound knowledge of Combat Systems, including radar surveillance, IFF and missile fire control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage workflow, priorities, and deadlines to deliver results.
• Experience assisting with the management of complex projects, including R&D, scheduling, project finances and resource management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical teams, customers and suppliers.
• Experience assisting with project task management; Defence-related project experience and involvement with the Defence Industry is highly desirable.
• Willingness to undertake further activities as directed.

Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance - Negative Vetting 1.
