Job summary

CEA Technologies in Melbourne is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join the afternoon shift. You will program, set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained across all tasks.

You will work with CADCAM systems, interpret Solidworks/SolidCAM outputs, and collaborate with shift supervisors for smooth handovers. Eligibility for Baseline AGSVA clearance is required, and the role offers opportunities for growth and development.

Qualifications

• Eligible for Baseline AGSVA clearance; Australian citizen.
• CNC Machinist with 5+ years post-trade CNC experience or Certificate IV Engineering CNC.
• Meticulous attention to detail with strong hand/eye coordination.
• Proficient in Manual & CNC Machining, Fitting & Fabrication, and precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Program using CADCAM software and edit programs as required.
• Build complex fixture assemblies from Solidworks drawings and instructions.
• Set up and maintain tooling from SolidCAM tool library information.
• Supervise machines while executing toolpaths and adjust for first-part accuracy.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts against requirements.
• Check and maintain machinery daily and ensure functionality.
• Follow CEA quality, Production, Engineering, Quality Management and WHS standards.
• Perform factory and administrative duties as directed.
• Set and load CNC machines when required.

The Position

To produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies during the afternoon shift.

Afternoon Shift Time: 1:45pm to 9:51pm

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with shift supervisors on shift hand over to ensure correct process is maintained.
• Programming using CADCAM Software and editing programs as required.
• Building complex fixture assemblies based of Solidworks assembly drawings & instructions.
• Setting up and maintain tooling based of SolidCAM tool library information..
• Supervise the machines while they execute the toolpaths and make any necessary adjustments or improvements to ensure compliant first parts.
• Inspect and measure in process & finished products and compare them with part requirements
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
• Operating within CEA’s quality Production, Engineering, Quality Management and WHS standards.
• Perform factory and administrative duties as directed.
• Setting and loading of CNC machines when required.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Must be eligible to successfully apply and maintain a Baseline AGSVA clearance. A requirement of this clearance is to be an Australian Citizen.
• CNC Machinist with a minimum of 5 year post trade Computer Numerical Control (CNC) experience or completion of Certificate IV Engineering CNC.
• Meticulous attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and sound hand/eye coordination skills.
• Competent in use of Manual Machining, CNC Machining, Fitting and Fabrication and precision Measuring tools, hand tools at an advanced level.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• Competent in use of Microsoft applications including Excel/Word.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
• Ability to make sound decisions to ensure compliant parts, safety and consistency
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing organisation priorities and ambiguous environments.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Baseline
