Job summary

ASC is Australia’s submarine company seeking a Project Delivery Specialist to lead strategic initiatives across multiple workstreams, partnering with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver sustainable business outcomes.

You will implement governance, risk management, and reporting frameworks, drive continuous improvement, and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced defence environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience delivering projects within complex operational environments.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects across multiple stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of planning, scheduling, risk management, governance, and performance reporting.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, governance, safety and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of strategic projects, developing delivery strategies, workplans, timelines and governance frameworks.
• Manage project schedules, risks, dependencies, issues, and escalation pathways to stay aligned with objectives.
• Establish and embed delivery tools and ways of working, including dashboards, reporting frameworks and cadences.
• Provide clear, timely project reporting, ensuring stakeholders have visibility of progress and key decisions.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, industry partners and Commonwealth representatives.
• Lead, engage, and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and embedding best practices.

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

About the Opportunity

As a Project Delivery Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering strategically important projects that enhance capability, strengthen business resilience, and improve operational performance. You will lead complex initiatives across multiple workstreams, partnering with senior leaders, operational teams, and key stakeholders to achieve sustainable business outcomes. Through effective governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, you will drive improvements in efficiency and organisational capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of strategic projects, developing delivery strategies, workplans, timelines, and governance frameworks to achieve successful outcomes
• Manage project schedules, risks, dependencies, issues, and escalation pathways to ensure delivery remains on track and aligned to business objectives
• Establish and embed effective delivery tools and ways of working, including project dashboards, reporting frameworks, collaboration platforms, and delivery cadences
• Provide clear, timely, and actionable project reporting, ensuring stakeholders have visibility of progress, risks, performance, and key decisions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, industry partners, and Commonwealth representatives to support effective project execution and outcomes
• Lead, engage, and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering alignment, accountability, and commitment to project objectives
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, embedding best practices, and identifying opportunities to enhance processes, technology, and business performance

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related discipline
• 5+ years' experience delivering projects within complex operational environments, with a track record of achieving measurable business outcomes
• Proven ability to lead complex projects across multiple stakeholders, driving outcomes through collaboration, influence, and proactive engagement.
• Strong knowledge of project delivery disciplines, including planning, scheduling, risk management, governance, and performance reporting
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge constructively, and engage at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and lead through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership capability, sound judgement, and a commitment to continuous improvement, governance, safety, and risk management

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
