MCA Engineering invites applications for a Project Coordinator to join our Thornton, NSW team. You will support project leads and engineers, coordinating schedules, documentation, deliverables, procurement, reporting and stakeholder actions on fast-paced mining, industrial and construction projects.

The role requires coordinating across lifecycle activities, with travel to MCA sites nationwide as needed. A technical qualification and 1–3 years’ relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • A relevant technical qualification in Engineering, Project Management or Operations.
  • 1–3 years experience supporting engineering, construction, mining or industrial projects.
  • Experience in Project Engineering, Site Engineering, Design Engineering, Project Coordination or entry-level Project Management.
  • Good understanding of project schedules, documentation, reporting and action tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliable deadline management.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to travel to MCA project sites.
  • Experience with MS Project and Primavera P6 is advantageous.
  • Exposure to cost control, project reporting, dashboards or construction delivery is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Leads to establish priorities, activities and delivery dates.
  • Maintain accurate project programs, action registers and progress trackers.
  • Track progress and communicate delays or constraints promptly.
  • Coordinate inputs from engineering, operations, quality, suppliers and site teams.
  • Arrange meetings and document decisions, responsibilities and actions.
  • Maintain organized project records throughout delivery stages.
  • Prepare progress summaries and provide visibility of performance.
  • Identify risks or delivery issues and raise them with the team.
  • Assist with cost tracking, budget reviews, variations and commercial docs.
  • Support mobilisation, execution and close-out activities.
  • Help improve project systems, templates and coordination processes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team in Thornton, NSW.

Working closely with Project Leads and Engineers, you will help coordinate schedules, project documentation, deliverables, procurement, reporting and stakeholder actions across a fast-paced project environment.

You will support projects throughout their lifecycle, providing broad exposure to the technical, operational and commercial aspects of project delivery.

The role is primarily based in Thornton, with some travel to MCA project sites across Australia, including Parkes and Mount Isa, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Leads to establish priorities, upcoming activities and key delivery dates.
  • Keep project programs, action registers and progress trackers accurate and up to date.
  • Follow project activities through to completion and communicate any emerging delays or constraints.
  • Bring together information from engineering, operations, quality, suppliers and site teams.
  • Coordinate meetings and ensure decisions, responsibilities and outstanding actions are clearly recorded.
  • Maintain organised and accurate project records throughout each stage of delivery.
  • Prepare progress summaries and provide clear visibility of project performance.
  • Identify potential risks or delivery issues and raise them with the appropriate team members.
  • Assist with cost tracking, budget reviews, variations and commercial documentation.
  • Support project mobilisation, execution and close-out activities.
  • Help improve project systems, templates and coordination processes across the business.
  • Provide general project support where required to keep work progressing efficiently.

About You

  • A qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Operations or another relevant technical field.
  • 1-3 years experience supporting engineering, construction, mining or industrial projects.
  • Experience gained in Project Engineering, Site Engineering, Design Engineering, Project Coordination or an entry-level Project Management role.
  • A good understanding of project schedules, documentation, reporting and action tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and a reliable approach to managing deadlines.
  • The confidence to communicate with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • The ability to recognise potential problems, gather the required information and help drive practical solutions.
  • Competence with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The flexibility to travel to MCA project sites when required.
  • Experience using MS Project and Primavera P6 would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to cost control, project reporting, dashboards or construction delivery will also be viewed favourably.
