Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking an experienced SMP Supervisor to lead crews across structural, mechanical, piping and FRP projects in mining and industrial settings. This hands-on role requires you to supervise while actively engaging in fieldwork, ensuring safety compliance and delivery quality.

You will oversee daily site activities, coordinate with engineers and managers, and travel across NSW and Mt Isa projects from our Thornton base.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or equivalent hands-on experience.
• NSW Supervisor ticket (G1, G8 or G9) or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on experience across FRP, structural, mechanical and piping construction works.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside teams across SMP and FRP (form, reo & pour) scopes.
• Actively supervise daily site activities while performing hands-on work.
• Coordinate daily site activities to meet project timelines and budgets.
• Ensure all works are delivered safely and in line with specifications.
• Drive WHS compliance and lead by example on tools and site.
• Mentor tradespeople and apprentices to build a high-performing team.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients.

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced hands‑on SMP Supervisor lead crews across structural, mechanical, piping and FRP projects across mining and industrial projects.

This isn't a desk job. You'll be leading by example—supervising crews while remaining actively involved in the work when required. You'll coordinate daily site activities, maintain safety standards and ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality.

The role is based in our Thornton office and involves regular travel to projects throughout NSW and Mt Isa, working across both surface and underground mining environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and work along side teams across SMP and FRP (form, reo & pour) scopes
• Actively participate in site works while supervising daily activities
• Coordinate daily site activities to meet project timelines and budgets
• Ensure all works are delivered safely and in line with specifications
• Drive strong WHS compliance and lead by example on the tools and on site
• Mentor tradespeople and apprentices to build a high‑performing team
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients

About You

• Trade qualified or previous hands‑on industry experience
• NSW Supervisor ticket (G1, G8 or G9) or equivalent
• Strong hands on experience across FRP, structural, mechanical and piping construction works
• Previous supervisory experience in mining, construction or heavy industry
• Underground mining experience highly regarded
• Strong leadership with a practical “lead from the front” mindset.
• Additional tickets (confined space, working at heights, operator, non slew crane) advantageous
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical including drug & alcohol testing
