NSW Treasury in Sydney CBD is seeking a Project and Business Support Officer in the Office of the Secretary and Ministerial Services. The role provides administrative, secretariat, coordination, project and policy support at a senior level.

The ideal candidate will triage ministerial advice, manage secretariat functions for governance groups, and work across Treasury and Ministerial Offices in a fast-paced environment requiring sound judgment and discretion.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to triage, assess and provide feedback on Ministerial advice and briefs.
• Experience managing secretariat functions for senior governance groups.
• Ability to prioritise workflows under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong written communication, research and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in an agile, responsive way and cover for leadership when required.
• Knowledge of NSW public sector policies and machinery of government is desirable.

• Remuneration: $116,981 - $129,492; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading

Role impact & contribution

As Project and Business Support Officer, you will be a critical member of the Secretary’s core support team, providing timely and effective administrative, secretariat, coordination, project and policy support.

You will review and edit high-level documents, coordinate briefings and approvals, manage Treasury Executive Board secretariat functions, and deliver responsive business services that help the Secretary and Treasury executives meet departmental priorities.

You will also lead and contribute to projects, undertake research and analysis, and build effective relationships across NSW Treasury, Ministerial Offices and the wider public sector. Success will require sound judgement, discretion and the ability to adapt quickly in a high-volume environment with competing priorities and critical deadlines.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Proven ability to triage, assess and provide feedback on Ministerial advice, including briefs
• Experience managing secretariat functions for senior governance groups
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and coordinate workflows under pressure, balancing competing demands and critical deadlines
• Strong written communication, research and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and high-quality documents
• Ability to work in an agile and responsive way, pivot to urgent priorities and provide cover for the Secretary’s Senior Executive Officer when required
• Knowledge and experience of relevant NSW public sector policies, practices and legislative requirements, and an understanding of the machinery of government is highly desirable.
