The Program Manager leads a team of people alongside assigned programs and projects to achieve desired outcomes in support of realising the Corporate Strategy.

The Program Manager also fosters partnerships with business leaders that ensure timely decisions and fit-for-purpose solutions are delivered in line with expectations. They reduce the risk of unintended consequences emerging during and after the delivery while optimising the deployment of resources (time, people, money and expertise) towards assigned programs and projects.

This role can be based out of either the Head Office in Sydney (Mascot with relocation to the CBD in November) or Melbourne (Collingwood) or in Brisbane; however, some travel between these locations will be required.

  • We have big plans to become Australia’s leading purpose-driven bank. You will be joining a growing organisation.
  • As a certified B Corp, we’re part of a global business community who meet thehighest social and environmental standards, balancing profit and purpose.
  • Every role and person in our bank is essential to bringing our values, purpose and aspiration to life.
  • We offer flexible working options, 14% super and a bonus leave scheme.
  • Our staff have access to a range of meaningful benefits to support their physical and mental wellbeing including 24/7 free counselling, free flu vaccinations and discounted gym memberships.
  • We also support staff with study assistance, paid parental leave (regardless of gender), volunteer, bereavement, gender affirmation and family violence leave; and the opportunity for bonus annual leave.
  • We support our staff to grow their careers through learning and development and an organisational culture where we reward and recognise innovation and values.
What you will be doing
  • Lead and mentor your team of EPMO Project Managers and oversee their delivery efforts.
  • Program and project manage assigned strategic activity and own other assigned work end-to-end to achieve timely outcomes and KPIs involving people, systems, processes, third parties and the customer.
  • Earn and maintain a reputation for being a trusted partner in program and project management of strategic activity.
  • Provide early warning of emerging risks or issues threatening the Critical Path, budget, benefit case or intended scope/quality of outcomes for the initiatives you are responsible for and with an appreciation for their impact on the Bank’s broader Strategic Project Portfolio.
  • Design, implement and embed metrics for measuring success in realising benefits and the enduring adoption of delivered outcomes. Alert the appropriate assurance authority to shortfalls as required.
  • Provide clear, meaningful, transparent, accurate and timely status reporting and line-of-sight over the health, budget performance, benefit realisation and progress of assigned programs and projects while ensuring that Sponsors, Business Owners, stakeholders and the EPMO feel well informed.
  • Bring affected people on any change journey you are driving while consulting with the Bank’s Change Management Team and being sensitive to a person’s ability to handle the pace and volume of change.
  • Provide thought leadership towards the simplification and standardisation of program and project management processes, templates and disciplines to remove inefficiencies, release capacity and align with industry best practice.
What you will bring
  • Demonstrated program, project and stakeholder management of high-profile and high-risk strategic activity in support of realising a Corporate Strategy
  • Proven ability to manage program support from 3rd-parties at the delivery level.
  • Willingness to build and maintain an effective team culture that binds people around a shared vision for success.
  • Proven ability for programs and projects under management to achieve intended time, cost, benefits, ROI and quality of outcomes within risk appetite.
  • Demonstrated satisfaction of Program and Strategic Portfolio interdependencies in a timely manner.
  • A growth mindset that delivers continuous improvement in the value-add delivered by Direct Reports.
  • Proven ability to engage, advise, and influence senior leaders and dispersed teams across hybrid environments.
