Job summary

Department of Education in Western Australia seeks a capable leader to advance disability support and learning needs across the school. You will lead education assistants to deliver outcomes and ensure equity in access to learning through strong SEN planning, case management, and robust documentation.

You will grow staff knowledge, collaborate with families and external partners, and align practices with strategic priorities and NCCD requirements to improve student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop processes and systems enabling staff to deliver exemplary support to students with disability and additional learning needs, and lead the team of education assistants.
• Lead the whole school literacy and numeracy strategy with an evidence-based approach across learning.
• Oversee SEN planning, student case management, learning adjustments, and documentation/reporting standards.
• Foster staff professional knowledge and build collaborations with families and allied health professionals to ensure timely, effective student support.

Key responsibilities

• A key component of the role is developing the processes and systems that enable staff to deliver exemplary support to students with disability and additional learning needs, and leading our team of education assistants in delivering these outcomes.
• This role will lead the whole school literacy and numeracy strategy, ensuring a consistent, evidence-based approach across learning.
• The role carries responsibility for SEN planning and documented plans across the school, including oversight of student case management, coordination of learning adjustments, and the maintenance of documentation and reporting standards.
• In this role, the successful applicant should grow staff professional knowledge and facilitate collaborative partnerships with families, allied health professionals and external agencies so that students receive timely and effective support.

What you need

• The successful applicant will ideally have clear experience with managing disability resourcing processes and ensuring school practices align with strategic priorities and NCCD compliance requirements.
• hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
