Job summary

Austral Resources is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor with civil works experience for Our Lady Annie/Mt Kelly Operations in Northwest Queensland. The role focuses on end-to-end management of civil and mining earthworks, including road networks and heap leach pads.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will oversee Machinery Operators, plan daily tasks, and supervise contractors while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' Supervisory experience in road and mine construction.
• Current Manual Drivers Licence (Open) is required.
• Site Safety Mining Supervisor Qualifications G1, G8, G9 are highly regarded.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
• Experience operating heavy earthmoving plant and equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end management of civil and mining earthworks.
• Oversee construction and maintenance of heap leach pads, drainage systems, and road networks.
• Supervise Machinery Operators to meet safety and productivity standards.
• Plan daily tasks including road maintenance, grading and dust suppression.
• Supervise civil/production contractors ensuring safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Identify production and machinery issues and lead risk assessments and incident investigations.

About the Role

Our Lady Annie/Mt Kelly Operations, located approximately 120km northwest of Mount Isa in Queensland, has been an operational copper mine and processing plant for over 10 years. We are currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor with civil works experience to join our team.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Production Manager a core focus of this position is the end-to-end management of civil and mining earthworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee construction and maintenance of heap leach pads, drainage systems, and road networks.
• Supervise Machinery Operators ensuring that all personnel operate to the highest safety and productivity standards.
• Plan and allocate daily tasks including road maintenance, grading and dust suppression.
• Supervise civil/production contractors ensuring they meet company safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Identify production, machinery defects and safety risks, leading risk assessments, SWMS and incident investigations.

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum 2 years' Supervisory experience in road and mine construction.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience and competency operating various pieces of heavy earthmoving plant and equipment.
• Understanding of obligations under the Queensland Mining and Quarrying Act and Queensland Mining and Quarrying regulations.
• Current Manual Drivers Licence (Open)
• Highly regarded but not essential:
  • Previous experience working on a Queensland mine site.
  • Heap Leach earthworks knowledge.
  • Site Safety Mining Supervisor Qualifications G1, G8, G9.
