Job summary

dormakaba is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand to join the Pinkenba Production team. You will report to the Production Manager, guiding a small team, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring safe, efficient delivery of high-quality products on a busy factory floor.

The role requires factory experience, a hands-on leadership approach, and a commitment to quality and safety. Flexibility to work early shifts is expected in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
• Previous Leading Hand/Team Leader/Supervisor experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.

Job description

Gliderol Garage Doors is seeking a motivated and hands-on Leading Hand to join our Pinkenba Production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll play a key role in leading a small team, coordinating daily production activities, and ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys leading from the front, mentoring others, and taking ownership in a fast-paced production environment.

What you will do

• Lead, support, and motivate a small production team.
• Coordinate daily production activities and allocate workloads.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and measurements.
• Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout production.
• Train, coach, and develop team members on the factory floor.
• Act as the first point of escalation for operational issues.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure production targets are met.
• Champion a strong safety culture and positive team environment.

What we require

• Experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, or Supervisor.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• A hands-on leadership style with a strong focus on quality and safety.
• Availability to work Monday to Thursday 6:00am to 2:30pm and Friday 6:00am to 12:00pm.

What we prefer

• Exposure to production planning and scheduling.
• Experience with SAGE or similar ERP systems.
• Experience using power tools, measuring equipment, and assembly tools.
