Job summary

Opera Australia is seeking a Production Coordinator to join our Technical Team for a parental leave cover from 1 February 2027 for 12 months. The role focuses on coordinating production documentation, schedules and communications, and supporting production managers with planning and health and safety processes across productions and technical operations.

The successful candidate will liaise with crew, venues and teams within the Technical Unit to ensure smooth delivery, with hands-on support

Expression of Interest – Production Coordinator

Parental Leave Cover | Commencing 1 February 2027 - 18 February 2028

Opera Australia is seeking expressions of interest for a Production Coordinator to join our Technical Team for a period of parental leave cover, commencing 1 February 2027 for 12 months. This role provides coordination and administrative support across our productions and technical operations, working closely with Production Managers and teams across the technical department to help ensure the smooth and effective delivery of Opera Australia’s productions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating production documentation, schedules, communications and other key information.
• Supporting Production Managers with production planning, costings, financial processes and health and safety documentation.
• Coordinating contracts, equipment hire, venue requirements and production-related administration.
• Liaising with crew, venues and teams across the Technical Unit to support production delivery.
• Coordinating crew and production staff requirements and providing hands-on support, including during bump-ins and bump-outs, as required.
• Providing general administrative support, including travel, accommodation, meetings and workforce administration.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and collaborative, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Experience within technical production, performing arts, events or a similar environment would be highly regarded.
