Job summary

SecondBite in Brisbane is seeking a reliable Production Assistant for its kitchen in Morningside. You will work with chefs, volunteers, and the team to support meal preparation and maintain high food-safety standards.

This part-time role runs Monday to Thursday, 1:00 pm–9:00 pm, offering hands-on experience in a mission-driven kitchen that rescues surplus food and prepares nutritious meals for the community.

About the role

We’re looking for a reliable and hands‑on Production Assistant to join our kitchen team in Morningside, Brisbane.

Working alongside our chefs, cooks and volunteers, you’ll support the preparation and production of nutritious meals while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation.

• Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by your manager.

About you

You’re a practical, dependable team player who takes pride in doing a job well. You enjoy working in a fast‑paced kitchen and are happy to get involved wherever support is needed.

You will ideally have:

• Experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.

• An understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

• A Food Handling Certificate.

• The ability to undertake the physical tasks associated with kitchen production.

• Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

• A flexible, responsive and can‑do attitude.

• A commitment to workplace health and safety.

You will also be required to meet the applicable pre‑employment checks and requirements, including a National Police Check, Working With Children Check, satisfactory employment references and medical assessment.
