Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide on-site technical support for Cummins-powered equipment at Roy Hill Mine. The role involves fault finding, diagnostics, and working closely with maintenance and operations to maximise fleet availability.

Based on a 4/3 roster (dayshift) with direct flights to site, you will lead escalation, coordinate repair strategies, and contribute to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement across the customer’s fleet.

Qualifications

• Extensive field service experience with Cummins engines and related systems.
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in mining or heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with customers at all levels.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
• Experience mentoring junior technicians (preferred).
• On-site Roy Hill Mine with 4/3 roster and flights direct to site.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site expert technical support for Cummins-powered equipment across the customer’s fleet.
• First point of escalation for complex breakdowns and reliability issues.
• Lead fault finding, root cause analysis and diagnostic activities to resolve failures.
• Coordinate and support repair strategies for safe, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
• Build strong working relationships with customer maintenance teams and operations personnel.
• Monitor fleet health and identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and maintenance practices.
• Support preventative maintenance through data review, fault history, and condition monitoring reports.
• Provide technical recommendations and guidance on product improvements and maintenance strategies.
• Assist with warranty investigations, technical reporting and documentation.
• Collaborate with Cummins engineering, service, and product support teams to resolve issues.
• Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with site standards.

Job Summary:

Providing expert technical support to the customer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimising the performance and reliability of Cummins-powered equipment operating on site at Roy Hill. Acting as the primary technical interface between Cummins and the customer, you will work closely with maintenance personnel, planners, supervisors, and operational stakeholders to ensure equipment issues are identified, diagnosed, and resolved efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing fleet availability. You will work on a 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 rotating roster on Dayshift, flying directly into Roy Hill Mine.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Technician looking to take the next step in their career and transition into a more customer-focused technical leadership position. You will leverage your advanced diagnostic capabilities, product knowledge, and troubleshooting expertise to provide first-point escalation support for complex technical issues, equipment failures, and reliability concerns.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Providing on-site expert technical support and guidance for Cummins-powered equipment across the customer's fleet.

• Monitoring fleet health and identifying opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and maintenance practices.




• Supporting preventative maintenance initiatives through the review of equipment data, service history, fault trends, and condition monitoring reports.




• Providing technical recommendations and guidance on product improvements, repairs, overhaul planning, and maintenance strategies.




• Assisting with warranty investigations, technical reporting and documentation to support both customer and internal stakeholders.




• Collaborating with Cummins engineering, service, and product support teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement long-term corrective actions.




• Promoting a strong safety culture by ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site and company safety standards and procedures.

Experience:

Significant field service Expereince

Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with Cummins HHP Engines

Customer service experience

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
