Job summary

SMW Drilling Services Pty Ltd in Mackay QLD seeks a QLD Product Support Advisor to support maintenance teams and drilling rigs on site. The role reports to the Maintenance/Product Support Manager and focuses on reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

The candidate will mentor site supervisors, coordinate maintenance strategies, manage OEM relationships, and provide daily technical support to customers while ensuring safe work practices.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in engineering (Cert III/IV) or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience maintaining heavy mining equipment.
• Current Class C driver's license and after-hours availability.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for SMW's drilling rigs.
• Maintain reliability and integrity of drilling equipment on site.
• Contribute to strategy development and continuous improvement.
• Mentor site Supervisors and Maintenance team in best practices.
• Assist Planning with maintenance scope and work identification.
• Maintain OEM and supplier relationships.
• Audit SMW Drill Fleet.
• Liaise with rebuild team on work scope development and project management.
• Provide daily technical support for customers.

The QLD Product Support Advisor (PSA) at SMW represents the Maintenance team at site level in Queensland. This role directly reports to the SMW Maintenance/Product Support Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support, troubleshooting, reliability, and uphold the integrity of SMW's Drilling Rigs
• Contribute to strategy development, root-cause reliability analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Upskill and mentor Site Supervisors and Maintenance team in best-practice standards and safe work practices
• Assist Planning Department with Part Identification, Maintenance Strategy and Work Scopes
• Continue OEM and Supplier Relationships
• Audit SMW Drill Fleet
• Liaise with rebuild team on Work Scope Development and Project Management
• Provide daily technical support for customers
• Support and develop personnel of the Maintenance Process at SMW

About you

• Strong mechanical aptitude with a relevant trade qualification such as a Certificate III/IV in Engineering or equivalent
• Hands-on experience maintaining heavy mining equipment
• Cat, Epiroc and Sandvik Surface Drill Knowledge
• Current Class C driver's license
• Available to take calls after hours and on weekends
