Job description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Product Manager to take ownership of a commercial product portfolio within an established business.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role suited to someone who enjoys taking products from concept through to production and launch. Working closely with manufacturing, engineering and commercial teams, you will translate customer and market needs into practical product solutions while driving innovation, portfolio performance and profitable growth.

A key focus will be leading new product development, working through technical and commercial considerations, and ensuring products are viable to manufacture, meet customer requirements and deliver strong commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Roadmap: Develop and manage the product roadmap, identifying opportunities for new products, product improvements and portfolio growth.

• New Product Development: Lead projects from initial concept and business case through to specifications, development, testing and launch, managing milestones and stage-gate approvals.

• Manufacturing & Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with local manufacturing and engineering teams to assess feasibility, resolve technical challenges, manage product requirements and support production readiness.

• Product Portfolio Management: Manage the product lifecycle, identifying opportunities to enhance, upgrade, rationalise or discontinue products based on market demand and commercial performance.

• Commercial Ownership: Manage product pricing, costs, margins and financial performance, ensuring product decisions support category profitability and business objectives.

• Market & Customer Insights: Understand customer requirements, competitor offerings and market trends to identify opportunities for product differentiation and innovation.

• Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with sales, supply chain, quality, finance and marketing teams to ensure products are developed and delivered effectively.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency, cost effectiveness and overall portfolio value.

About You

You are a commercially minded Product Manager who combines strong product development capability with practical problem-solving skills. You are comfortable working across technical and commercial functions and enjoy being involved in the detail required to bring products successfully to market.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• 5–8+ years of experience in product management, category management or a related discipline.

• Proven experience managing B2B or commercial product portfolios, preferably involving physical products.

• Strong experience leading end-to-end new product development, from concept and business case through to production and launch.

• Experience working closely with manufacturing, engineering, R&D or technical teams, ideally within a local manufacturing environment.

• The ability to understand technical requirements, assess product feasibility and balance customer needs with cost, quality and commercial considerations.

• Experience with product roadmaps, lifecycle management, pricing, margin optimisation and business cases.

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver projects to agreed timelines.

• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving, decision-making and continuous improvement.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational and commercial teams.

Experience in industrial products, electrical equipment, building products, durable goods or other manufactured commercial products will be advantageous.
